San Timoteo

This project provided hikers, cyclists, and equestrians three improved rest areas along a 4-mile stretch of San Timoteo Creek in the county of San Bernardino. We were responsible for developing schematic concepts that included native gardens, picnic areas, and walking paths. Other features included restroom facilities and signage. The proximity to the river inspired a design pattern of swirling eddies.

All improvements were designed in accordance with USACOE and San Bernardino County standards. Our designs were inspired by the local forms and features and local materials were used. These materials included native river rock, decomposed granite, native trees and shrubs, and recycled materials. The trail that connects the rest areas is open to bicyclists, equestrians, and hikers and offers excellent opportunities for streamside wildlife viewing.
