This heavily used community park near Silver Lake serves a strong family and sports-oriented neighborhood. The project included features set by the community at a series of meetings. Enhancement of the sports facilities included replacing the baseball dugouts, replacing a backstop, providing a new batting cage, installation of an electronic scoreboard, new field and safety lighting, and providing new infield mix and sod for the baseball fields. We designed a new decomposed granite jogging/walking trail to follow the park perimeter and allow for leisurely strolling. In addition, Cornerstone Studios redesigned the entire park irrigation system, which was another priority for the users of the park.

Further enhancements for the park included a new picnic pavilion with picnic tables and barbecues, replacement of drinking fountains, and resurfacing the children’s playground with resilient rubber to comply with current ADA requirements. Additionally, we designed a new walkway along the park frontage to create a meaningful and safe entry to the park. Close coordination with the City and community is an integral part of the project.
