UCI Arroyo Vista
A few landscape regions are represented in the plant groupings for this student housing complex composed of ten buildings. The riparian area was designed around the Western Sycamore using plants native to foothills and washes in California. The planting adjacent to the buildings was based on a native coastal connection featuring the Torrey Pine. Design of the parking areas and perimeter was carried out in association with Mediterranean and native California species featuring the Holly Oak. The irrigation system was designed to meet the requirements of the reclaimed water use established by the Irvine Ranch Water District while the use of field satellites and a cluster control unit was created to tie into the University’s central computer control system.
