Jan Heidt Newhall Station
This Metrolink station is located in downtown Newhall and is heavily used by local residents for commuting to downtown Los Angeles . The station has upper and lower plazas that are connected by a waterfall. The upper plaza, which has more of an “urban” feel to it, has trellises on the north and south covered with Chinese Wisteria. The lower plaza is the “softer” plaza. It provides conversational seating groups enhanced by the planting of the colorful Chinese Pistache and the enriched patterned paving. The overall planting concept for the station and parking lots is to use evergreen trees to provide much needed shade in the summer. A California Live Oak is planted at the corner of Market and Railroad Avenues to commemorate the station and street trees are placed along Railroad Avenue to match the segments to the north of it.
