Newcomb Academy

The scope of work for this project included an overall landscape master plan for the 13-acre K-8 campus along with planting design. The specific components that were designed included:

  • The main quad
  • Entry and building courtyards
  • Drop-off areas in front and parking lots surrounding the site
  • Soccer field with natural turf
  • Site landscape and irrigation

Newcomb Academy has an open campus layout. The proposed design integrates contemporary design patterns that accentuate and connect the different spaces. The outdoor circulation is designed to follow the natural pedestrian movement among the different buildings. The plant material chosen for the site included a low water use and very low maintenance palette that will allow the campus to look its best between maintenance trips.

The project began with conceptual design preparation followed by a detailed cost estimate that was put together with assistance from the project contractor. With a fixed project budget and a large group of consultants’ involvement, the project has required close coordination and teamwork from the beginning. The project is on-going with the design development phase recently completed.
