Fire Station No.4

This is a new fire station at Temple and Alameda Streets adjacent to the new Los Angeles Emergency Operations Center (LAEOC). The two projects share the same landscape plant palette that consists of a variety of native and drought tolerant plants to meet a water budget mandated by the City. The planting design complements the fire station architecture and provides an attractive setting for visitors as well as the fire station personnel.

The employee courtyard, located in the back of the building, is accessible from both the fire station and LAEOC. The design incorporates several functional elements. There is a dining area with a built-in barbecue, group seating, and gathering areas. Shade tolerant plants, enriched paving and easy accessibility from both buildings contribute to the popularity of this courtyard.

All design elements contributed to the sustainability objective and LEED Certification.
