This was the second phase of a three phase project to provide improvements to a County of Los Angeles community park in the town of Acton. The improvements included a 60 foot diameter gazebo, a CIF regulation softball field with backstop and fencing, basketball court, concrete walkways, decomposed granite paving, turf planting, irrigation, and site utilities. We addressed a persistent problem of poor drainage on the first phase by incorporating subsurface drain lines in the fields connected to underground sumps to percolate the excess runoff into the ground. We coordinated the design with the County and the Acton community prior to beginning construction documents The $1,092,200 construction cost was 2.5% under our cost estimate for the project and within the County’s budget.
